What Is StepSprite?

StepSprite is an ankle-worn step tracker for people whose wrist tracker misses steps, especially on an under-desk walking pad.

It was built for the exact situation where a watch falls short: you are typing, your hands stay still, but your legs keep moving.

  • People who work from home and use a walking pad while typing
  • People whose Apple Watch or phone misses steps when the phone is on the desk
  • People who want an iPhone-first setup without an account or cloud sync
  • People who want one device they can wear all day, not just during a workout
  • Counts steps from the ankle or shoe, where the step motion actually is
  • Keeps counting on the device even when your iPhone is not with you
  • Stores step history on the device so the iPhone app can sync it later
  • Syncs StepSprite activity into Apple Health when you open the app near the device
  • Shows workouts, charts, goals, device status, and firmware updates in the iPhone app
  • It is not a medical device.
  • It does not need an account, login, or monthly subscription.
  • It does not send your health data to StepSprite servers.
  • It does not need your iPhone beside you every minute of the day.
  • It does not magically background-sync all day on iPhone. The app is foreground-first by design.
  1. Put StepSprite on in the morning, usually on your ankle or shoe.
  2. Walk as normal, whether that means a walking pad, a call around the house, or a short walk outside.
  3. Leave your iPhone on the desk if you want. The device keeps counting on its own.
  4. Open the StepSprite app later, near the device, when you want to sync.
  5. The app backfills recent step history and updates your StepSprite data in Apple Health.

The point of StepSprite is not “more fitness tech.” The point is fewer workarounds.

No phone in your sock. No watch on your ankle. No guessing whether your under-desk walking actually counted.
