Steps Not Syncing
This is the most common StepSprite support question, and it usually comes down to one of a few causes.
Start with the simple explanation
Section titled “Start with the simple explanation”StepSprite counts on the device first. The iPhone app syncs later.
So ask these questions in order:
- Is the device close to the iPhone right now?
- Is the app open in the foreground?
- Has the app had time to reconnect and backfill recent history?
If the answer is “not yet,” the sync may simply still be catching up.
If the app connects but steps still look frozen
Section titled “If the app connects but steps still look frozen”Try this:
- walk for 10 to 20 seconds
- confirm the device is worn on ankle or shoe
- wait for current history syncing to finish
- check the Stats tab again
Add a screenshot showing the app connected with step values visible, ideally during a simple sync test.
If the StepSprite app looks right but Apple Health does not
Section titled “If the StepSprite app looks right but Apple Health does not”That is usually an Apple Health settings issue, not a Bluetooth issue.
Check:
- whether Health access is enabled
- whether StepSprite steps are allowed
- whether another source has higher priority
Use Permissions and Source Priority for the full path.
If you waited too long to sync
Section titled “If you waited too long to sync”StepSprite stores up to a month of step history on-device.
If you go well past that without opening the app near the device, the oldest unsynced history may no longer be available.
If this only happens on a walking pad
Section titled “If this only happens on a walking pad”Go back to Wear and Placement.
Low or inconsistent desk-walking counts are often placement problems, not sync problems.
